I am in the process of applying to a Doctoral Program in Business. My goal is to build a business income stream by promoting my value proposition to SME businesses to help them save money or improve ROI by implementing my process improvement initiatives.

Therefore, I am searching for grants and/or scholarships to buy stand along process improvement, statistical and simulation software, and small Enterprise software-as-a-service platform. In addition, I need to attend e-learning workshops and buy a communication server to develop and host real-time training for SME via my entrepreneurial initiative. My business model will integrate change management, organizational psychology, real-time training and deliver research, design and process improvement solutions; regardless of devices, browsers and platforms.

There are many ways that one can find an unclaimed scholarship. Some of them are as simple as going to a website of a local store you support like Stop & Shop or Big Y or a franchise like McDonalds or Taco Bell. These organizations all offer scholarships to both their customers and employees. However many people searching for college funding don’t realize that these scholarships even exist. And thats not even the bad part. The bad part is the advertising for these offers. These corporations do very little to advertise their college funding that they provide. Have you ever seen a Best Buy commercial talking about the latest Digital Camera, then mentioning how to apply for a scholarship? Exactly neither have I.

In regards to scholarship searches there are quite a few of them. Just make sure you use well known scholarship searches. You can see the recommendations at the source. Scholarship books are widely available for purchase but some of these books contain information that you may find for free online. Also you can go to Borders or Barnes and Nobles and skim through some scholarship books to try it before you buy. Newspapers are a very unpopular source for scholarships and grants. They are sometimes listed in the classifieds or spread out throughout the newspaper in the form of ads. Websites well as you may already know in the millions. But be wary of websites that ask for your personal information including email addresses because you don’t want to get tricked into receiving unsolicited emails.

There is no mystery or hidden meaning, an unclaimed scholarship is a scholarship that nobody received. Either they didn’t apply for it or their entries/applications wasn’t good enough. But most of the time it is because people didn’t know about the scholarship. The best way you can prevent scholarships from going unclaimed is by telling people. Like many articles and blogs do; spread the word. Let people know about new scholarships that you have found out about, how you found out about them and where to apply for them. Especially if you don’t meet the criteria or requirements for a scholarship tell a friend that may meet the requirements. This starts the process of good karma you tell a friend about a scholarship offer that they can apply for and down the road someone tells you and this cycle keeps going. Anyhow when apply for scholarships find scholarships that have low competition meaning scholarships that you may have found in a book in the back of the library somewhere or an unpopular book at borders. This is why you shouldn’t just rely on a single scholarship search. Because many other students will rely on that scholarship search as well. I’m about to graduate. I’m doing a b.s. in Psychology and plan to do my masters in Linguistics. I would like to know if I can apply for scholarships to do my masters, since I’ve heard about thousands of scholarships, but all for undergraduate programs. Graduate and post- graduate programs are really expensive, so I’ll like to find a way to pay for my education that is not through a student loan.

Charitable Foundation Grants

The definition of a grant can be summed up as funds given to tax exempt organisations which are made to fund a specific project. Other grants can be given to individuals i.e. victims of natural disasters and individuals who seek to open a small business.

It if a grant is approved and granted it will mean you will have to report back with how the specific project etc is going. This is a small gesture considering the money granted doesn’t actually require the need to be paid back and you don’t have to give up a share of your business to the investor; as long as you stick to the conditions of the grant.

As previously mentioned a grant is a sum of money that is awarded for a specific job or purpose meaning the money must be spent on the specific aspect and this specific aspect alone. If it is found that you are using the money awarded in a grant for any other purpose other than the one you were awarded the grant for you will be made to pay the money back in full and may also be charged.

The sum of money that is awarded in a grant only covers part of the total costs involved in the specific project. It is your responsibility to come up with the rest of the cash. There are three aspects that you need to ensure before you go ahead and put a claim in for a business grant. These aspects are:

? Need to have money to cover your part of the costs

? Need to have a specific reason for needing the grant and a full description of how the grant will help and how you will use it

? Make sure the specific project etc hasn’t already been started

Business grants exist to help businesses develop and are available from a variety of sources such as; Government, European Union, Regional Development Agencies and Local Authorities as well as some charitable organisations. The success of an application may be linked to business activity or specific geographical areas such as those in need of economic regeneration.

When it comes to actually making your business grant proposal there are certain aspects that you will need to provide such as:

? A detailed project description

? An explanation of the potential benefits of the project

? A detailed work plan with full costs

? Details of your own relevant experience and that of other key managers

? Completed application forms where stipulated

? Possibly a business plan

It should be noted that you remember to submit your application before the deadline where relevant; any late applications are rarely considered. You should also be prepared to wait anything from a few weeks to a year for a decision; however local applications are typically processed more quickly.

Your proposal will be considered by analysing the following aspects:

? Significance

? Approach

? Innovation

? Their assessment of your expertise

? Need for the grant
