Implementing A Good Fundraising Idea

By Wendy Carmile

Fundraising events at schools, hospitals or non-profit organizations need a champion. There has be someone who will lead the entire effort. This can be an individual or a team of individuals. A good fundraising idea is measured by the success it achieves by way of funds raised and this can be optimized by managing the event well.

Some of the key areas of attention when implementing a fundraising event are planning the event, managing the finances and pricing the services or products which will be sold, distributing available resources, raising in-kind services from local companies, raising sponsorships if applicable, and the final execution of the event. Apart from the mentioned work heads, the team also needs to focus on many smaller planning items and last minute items during the event.

It is advisable that the complete plan of the event should be put down on paper and a good brainstorming session is undertaken to ensure that all points of concerns are ironed out. If a fundraising event requires sponsorship, then they should be approached at the earliest and in a professional manner. It helps to show a good workable plan to potential sponsors as it makes it easier for them to decide if they should go ahead with it or not. Managing of the financial information is also critical since that will measure the success of the event. A regular meeting to convene and evaluate all activities of members in the core team is also essential for implementing a good fundraising idea.

A good fundraising idea is just that...an idea. The true worth of the idea can only be measured by successful implementation of the project. A professional and dedicated approach to the fundraising idea is sure to reap the desired results.
